Bring Your Dreams to Life

Design Tips &
Guidelines

I'm Remodeling or Designing a New Space…
Where Do I Begin?

Our design team always strives to work with you to design the space of your dreams. The Cottage considers you the most important member of the team. Our mission is for your design experience to be fun, exciting, and to above all exceed your design expectations. Our goal is to assist you in the creation of spaces that truly reflect you and your lifestyle needs.

01

Planning

What information should I bring to my design consultation to get the ideas flowing?

  • Inspiration photos (magazines, Houzz, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Existing house plans (if available) for remodeling consults or new construction plans
  • If remodeling, photos of your existing space to describe what you do or do not like
  • Design wish list of special features desired and/or special needs

We want you to have fun considering all the features you would like for your dream space to have — including innovative integrated lighting in drawers and cabinetry, custom drawer compartments and pull-outs, special functions you would like to address, your desired color palette, finishes, tile, stone, and more.

Ultimately, we want you to enjoy your completed space and feel true joy knowing that you played a critical role in its successful completion. Our only desire is for you to live in a space where you and your family can share and build memories to last a lifetime.

Design

This Is Where The Fun Begins!

The design process can take a few days or weeks and will vary depending upon the complexity and scope of the project.

How It Works:
A renovation can take a few weeks or months to design depending on the number of rooms involved and the complexity of the project. Both remodeling and new construction projects will have a timeline determined by you and your contractor.

Our design team will work with you, your contractor, and your interior designer to coordinate and establish realistic timelines for cabinetry, tile, windows and doors, and more — to ensure that you achieve your project goals and objectives.

The Cottage team brings every element of each project together in a cohesive way. The comfort of the process will only be out-shined by the joy you experience in your truly personalized space.

Budget, Ordering & Installation

What Should I Expect?

The last step — soon you'll have a new space you'll love!

  • Establishing a budget
  • Order placement & scheduling
  • Installation

Establishing a Budget:
Your budget is established by you and your contractor. The Cottage design team will work within the budget you set forth to select the products, brands, and finishes that fall within your budgetary guidelines.

Order Placement and Scheduling:
The Cottage offers multiple lines of cabinetry, tile, appliances, and hardware. Each brand and product line will have specific order and manufacturing guidelines and lead times. Depending on the brand of cabinetry you select, the production schedule for your custom order could range from 6 to 14 weeks. Our design team will keep you informed about your selections and how they may impact your timeline before an order is placed.

Installation:
Once your cabinetry arrives at your home or construction site, the transformation from dream to reality begins. Furniture-quality custom cabinetry from our premium brands — including Bentwood, Harmoni, and KitchenCraft — will be installed by our team of professional installers. Our design team will personally oversee the installation to ensure it is completed exactly as planned.
